Welcoming our latest apprentices to the Robust Team
At Robust UK, we believe in investing in the future of our staff.
and that includes our apprentices.
Providing the right training and personal development opportunities is of paramount importance to us as a company.
As part of that – this week we welcome Lewis Hulme and David Pereira, to our team of apprentices. David has worked with us throughout the summer to gain some experience before starting his apprenticeship.
Lewis and David are joining us to study for his Level Three Engineering Technical NVQ.
They will be studying alongside Jack Higgs and Jacob Hillman who have both been with us for two years and are already on the Level Three Engineering Technical NVQ Apprenticeship scheme.
The qualification explores the different areas of sales, cad, drawing, engineering, electrical, maintenance – all of which are essential skills for our industry.
The course sees each apprentice get level two qualifications in the first two years in welding, and milling and then in the third year they study level three in mechanical engineering.
The NVQ Level 3 is actually equivalent to A-Levels in terms of the level of academic work required. The main difference between the qualification and an A-level is that it is designed to be vocational so that it prepares each apprentice for the specific trade/industry they want to work in.
Robust’s National Sales Manager Steven Price said:
“Jack and Jacob should both be very proud of how they have grown in the last two years and integrated into the business. They constantly add value in whatever area they have had exposure to, and they have delivered some fantastic project results for all areas of the business. Having been heavily involved in the recruitment and selection process for this year’s cohort I am very confident David and Lewis will follow in their footsteps and be just as successful.”

Jack said:
“It’s a great industry to get into and I am really enjoying working here. You get to meet lots of different people in a great atmosphere and to be learning on the jobs is a really rewarding.”
“You also get lots of opportunities and freedom to learn about the different parts of the business which is great as it gives you an insight. It has certainly made me think about which areas I would like to specialise in the future.” Jacob explained.
“I’m really looking forward to joining the Robust team. I’ve always been interested in engineering and this particular apprenticeship was exactly what I was looking for,” Lewis said and David added:
“I’ve really enjoyed working here in the summer to get a taster of what the industry is like and I can’t wait to get officially started on my apprenticeship.”
